It's always a good idea for your left & right speakers to be at equal distances from your sitting position. Speakers should be at ear height or higher. With 2 Channel stereo a good degree of separation is important for the right effect to be achieved. |

Connected with optical, coaxial or HDMI cables, theatre surround sound can be acheived in many ways, from floor mounting your speakers to ceiling mounting satellite speakers, or wall mounting bookshelf speakers. There's no hard and fast rules. Remember that rear speakers are effect speakers only and should not overpower your front and center speakers. |

6.1 Surround adds a centre rear speaker into the room giving a broader sense of realism listening to movies in sound formats such as Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES It also allows the use of six speaker stereo for normal stereo listening such as CD, Digital TV etc. |

Some receivers have the ability to supply signal to two centre back speakers to give an even greater all speaker effect. This is described as 7.1 Surround. |
